Presidential Elections: What now?

This post is in light of the Presidential Elections.

Whether you voted Romney, Obama or didn't vote at all the election is over.  Barak Obama is once again the President of the United States of America.  This isn't the end, or the beginning.  Rather, this is another opportunity for the citizens of the U.S. to come together.  We may not agree completely with all of Obama's views but we do have a duty.  That duty is to support him and guide him to make decisions that will allow our great nation to improve and prosper.  We have another four years of this journey with Obama.  Let's not waste time arguing or being angry but make the best of our current situation.  Get involved!

Sportsmanship goes a long way

Instead of celebrating after winning the Champions League Final, Oliver Kahn went and put his arm around a grieving opponent.  For this act of compassion, Kahn received the Fair Play Award.

Don't let the words of others decide your fate

I'll let this video do all the talking...

Break the Habit!

"We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, therefore, is not an act but a habit." -Aristotle

No matter where your expertise may be, if you strive for excellence then that will become your habit. (which is a pretty good habit to have)

To be inspired is great but to inspire is incredible.

You never know what little extra motivation may inspire those around you.  People are watching and constantly looking at you for an example. Give them a good one.

live life to the fullest...

I am a huge movie person and so I hear a lot of good quotes, some are cheesy yes but some have a really good meaning behind them, one that has always stuck with me is from the movie Kung Fu Panda! it's during the scene where Master Uguay is talking to Master Shifu about how Po is the so called "Dragon Warrior" that is to save the village from Ti Lung the evil tiger... anyways enough background but the quote that is awesome is when Uguay says " yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, but today is a gift, that is why it is called the present!" live each day as if it is a present, being grateful that we get another day to pursue our dreams because there are many who have not had the same luxury so enjoy it!

Fortune favors the BOLD!

one of the trends I have noticed throughout my life as I look back is that success follows action, I've never achieved anything in my life without pushing myself to act first. NO ONE in the history of the world has accomplished any great feat without first being bold and brave enough to try! two quotes that always remind me of this truth are,
"you miss 100% of the shots you never take" -Wayne Gretzki
  and then
"be brave. take risks. nothing can substitute experience." -Paulo Coelho

think about that, if William Wallace never took the risks he took in order to become one of the world's most legendary leaders then no one would ever remember his name, with those risks he gained experience, with that experience he was able to help return freedom to an entire country! Fortune favors the BOLD!

never give up...

One of the coolest quotes I have ever heard and no matter how discouraged I get I think back to this, it's amazing because it relates to every single person in this world no matter what their position, circumstance, age... is this quote that I heard from the Talk of Dieter F. Uchtdorf about the ability to create," Never give up on anyone. And that includes not giving up on yourself.” If you would like to watch a small video on this talk it is worth your time check out this link. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e8xGlqZwe4I it's only like 3 minutes long... check it out!

My Colors Are Clear!

I believe in life we must find purpose and conviction.  Having a purpose gives life meaning and color.  Regardless of people's different beliefs, interests, and goals we must find what inspires and is important to us.  This prayer, which was found among notes of a young African pastor years after he was martyred, is an example of passion and conviction.
I'm a part of the fellowship of the unashamed. The die has been cast. I have stepped over the line. The decision has been made. I'm a disciple of His and I won't look back, let up, slow down, back away, or be still.
My past is redeemed. My present makes sense. My future is secure. I'm done and finished with low living, sight walking, small planning, smooth knees, colorless dreams, tamed visions, mundane talking, cheap living, and dwarfed goals.
I no longer need preeminence, prosperity, position, promotions, plaudits, or popularity. I don't have to be right, or first, or tops, or recognized, or praised, or rewarded. I live by faith, lean on His presence, walk by patience, lift by prayer, and labor by Holy Spirit power.
My face is set. My gait is fast. My goal is heaven. My road may be narrow, my way rough, my companions few, but my guide is reliable and my mission is clear.

I will not be bought, compromised, detoured, lured away, turned back, deluded or delayed.
I will not flinch in the face of sacrifice or hesitate in the presence of the adversary. I will not negotiate at the table of the enemy, ponder at the pool of popularity, or meander in the maze of mediocrity.
I won't give up, shut up, or let up until I have stayed up, stored up, prayed up, paid up, and preached up for the cause of Christ.

I am a disciple of Jesus. I must give until I drop, preach until all know, and work until He comes. And when He does come for His own, He'll have no problems recognizing me. My colors will be clear!
Find what is important to you. Stand for what you find is important and do so with every ounce of strength and vigor you possess.

FAILURE paves the way to SUCCESS

No one in the history of time has ever accomplished something of grandeur without failing miserably over and over again. Read the following time-line of defeats and guess who this person is:
                          1831 - Failed in business
                          1832 - Defeated for legislature
1833 - Again failed in business
                          1835 - Sweetheart died
                          1836 - Had a nervous breakdown
                          1838 - Defeated for speaker
                          1840 - Defeated for elector
                          1843 - Defeated for Congress
                          1848 - Defeated for Congress
                          1855 - Defeated for Senate
                          1856 - Defeated for Vice-President
                          1858 - Defeated for Senate
At first site all you see this person is as a defeated loser. But this defeated loser is actually Abraham Lincoln, one of the best, if not the best, American President.

Failure only wins if we refuse to get up after it beats us down. So GET UP! And never settle for less than you're worth.

Be a Kid Again...

I love that children are imaginative, accepting and can say exactly what they feel and think.
My 4 year old niece, Tenesey, was at her ballet class recently when a new girl showed up in class.  Standing all alone, this sweet new comer looked rather uncomfortable. Tenesey decided she would make this little ballerina feel welcome.  So, she sashayed her way to the other side of the floor and confidently introduced herself by saying, "Hi, I'm Tenesey, you can come sit by me because I'm a beautiful girl."
When we are young we are all capable of imagining possibilities, accepting and loving ourselves.  But somehow as we get older we develop insecurities, bad self-images and anxieties.  Why do we let life have that sort of influence on us? Eleanor Roosevelt said, "No one can make you feel inferior without your consent." So, we have a choice to believe what we are.  Although I don't suggest we walk around telling people how wonderful or (as Tenesey would say) how beautiful we are I do suggest we go back to some of our childlike ways.  Let's be like Tenesey and have confidence in ourselves, our ideas and our abilities to help those around us.

Wisdom From Einstein

"Anyone who has never made a mistake has never tried anything new" - Albert Einstein.

Don't let the fear of failure stop you from branching out and trying new things.  Anyone who has enjoyed success had to suffer through failure to get there (including Albert Einstein).

Make a Change!

The best day of your life is the one on which you  decide your life is your own. No apologies or excuses. No one to lean on, rely on, or blame. The gift is yours - it is an amazing journey - and you alone are responsible for the quality of it.
- Bob Moawad
Take this day to set a goal and make a change, to improve yourself.  Recognize the opportunities and enrich the quality of YOUR life!

Don't take offense...

One of my all time favorite quotes that inspires me to live a better life, "You're a fool if you take offense when there is no offense to be taken, you're an even bigger fool if you take offense when there is to be taken!" It's definitely a work in progress so I'm still working on this one but if you can implement this into your life and not be so quick tempered you'll have a lot less unnecessary stress and drama!

Blaming others for personal misery is a COP OUT!

Rocky Balboa puts it a lot better than most people can http://youtu.be/_Z5OookwOoY

Control what you can like how many times you smile in a day:). Don't stress things out of your control like bad weather!
